Movement Intelligence Program

A new approach to learning Alexander Technique

Develop Your Movement Intelligence

Develop your movement intelligence with this set of four courses that reward you with a growing embodied expertise. Each course builds on the last, guiding you from perceptual clarity to structural balance and finally to confident, real‑time coordination.

The progression is designed to give you usable skills. You learn how to understand movement organisation in yourself and others, and many problem movements, uncomfortable postures, and painful bodily experiences will begin to make sense at last. You will learn how to knowledgeably move with less strain and break free from the movement habits that keep you stuck. Each course adds another layer of clarity so you can navigate daily movement with more ease and confidence.

Each course runs for approximately ten weeks and offers a rich mix of learning formats. You’ll work with clear graphics, detailed descriptions, and experiments you can try in your own body. You’ll receive assessment tasks with personalised feedback from a qualified Alexander Technique teacher, along with supporting videos that deepen your understanding. You’ll also have the option to join a live Zoom class, giving you a chance to ask questions, explore ideas, and connect with others on the same learning path.

Movement Intelligence 1 | Body Use and Awareness

This first Movement Intelligence course invites you into the foundational skills of Movement Intelligence: learning to observe your coordination, recognise habitual patterns and understand how your ‘use’ influences your ‘functioning’. Through guided lessons, practical explorations and embodied observation, you begin developing the perceptual clarity that underpins all later work.

Movement Intelligence 2 | Functional Organisation in Everyday Contexts

This is the second course in the Movement Intelligence Series.  This module explores how load, balance, attention, and intention interact whenever you sit, stand, bend, reach, or transition between activities. Rather than correcting posture or chasing ideal shapes, you’ll learn to recognise the underlying coordination patterns that support ease, adaptability, and responsiveness.

Movement Intelligence 3 | Dynamic Standing and Transitional Movements

This course shows you how standing becomes easier when your weight travels cleanly through your bones and your joints aren’t braced. You learn to shift, step, bend and rise without gripping, so movement feels steadier and more adaptable. You’re guided through clear, practical experiments that make the learning genuinely your own.

Structural balance

Movement Intelligence 4 | Structural Balance and Primary Pivots

Your body’s primary pivots the AO joint, hips, knees, ankles and the load paths that connect them provide an uprightness that is constantly balancing. You explore structural relationships, spirals, and base‑of‑support dynamics, developing steadier coordination and a clearer sense of how balanced movement organises itself through gravity.
