Static Loading

Static loading refers to a mechanical force or weight that is applied gradually and remains constant over time. It does not fluctuate in magnitude or direction once applied. In contrast to dynamic loading (which involves movement or sudden force), static loading is steady and predictable.

In the context of seated work and Alexander Technique:

  • It includes the continuous downward force of the body on a chair during prolonged sitting.
  • It contributes to muscle fatigue and postural strain when not balanced by adaptive tone or movement.
  • It’s a key factor in workplace musculoskeletal risk, especially when combined with poor workstation design or habitual rigidity.
